"Are you sure this will work, sir?" Rogers asked as Dr. Jefferson told him his plans for testing. "I can think of no alternative. Alpha is the only one that has currently been put on enhancements, and he will not cooperate," Dr. Jefferson started, "as he refuses to speak with anyone. Including Lucy." Lieutenant Rogers scratched his head and sighed, feeling a bit worried as he got closer to Alpha's holding cell. He "I never did realize why they called it a "holding cell". Alpha could easily break out and leave, if he wanted to. But he has nothing on the outside that he wants.." Rogers thought to himself as they passed other Subjects. Mion. Omega. Kept at least 100 feet apart, they were of no threat. But Alpha? He was kept 300 feet away, for both research and safety reasons.
There they were. In front of Alpha's cell. As they opened the first door, which was 10 feet thick with steel, then an electronically controlled 15 feet thick steel door, Rogers felt a sense of uneasiness when he noticed how quiet it was. "He's in here, right?" Rogers asked, drawing his pistol into his hands, looking around the room, "And why is it so dark..?" "So he can calm down. So he can come out when he's ready. Alpha! We know you're here, come out please."
Roger put his weapon away and chuckled. "Maybe he's scared? Poor thi-" Before he could finish, he saw the six eye-holes of Alpha's mask glowing bright red, and Alpha slammed him against the wall, knife drawn and pointed downward, towards the mid-area between the shoulder and neck. Alpha made a breathy hissing sound, and dropped Rogers, who was frozen with both shock, and fear. Rogers slowly looked up at the Subject called Alpha, who he had rarely seen, on account of his dangerous personality. Rushing Rogers to his feet and out the door, Dr. Jefferson smiled back at Alpha, saying "We'll come back later Alpha, and try to be nicer to our associate, please? Alpha made another breathy hissing sound, and the six eye-holes of the mask went dark.
They spoke little on the way back to the meeting room, and then Dr. Jefferson broke the silence. "You'd do well not to try and intimidate the Subjects. Especially not Alpha. I'm surprised he was as kind as he was to just drop you. Usually the guards don't even get out of there without a scratch or two. My tip: Be nice." Rogers nodded and wiped the sweat from his forehead, sighing with relief.
"Hey Mion." Omega called down the hall. "Yeah, Omega?" she responded. "How much you wanna bet he said something stupid?" Omega said with a laugh. "Not a lot, 'cause I know it's true." Mion said with a slight chuckle. Alpha paced the floor of his cell, listening as the air conditioning flowed through the building. He scraped his large knife against the combat knife that he stole from Rogers, to sharpen it. He listened as he heard the familiar sound of a door opening, then turned around, putting away his knife. When Mion walked through the door, Alpha relaxed, and made a loud humming noise, walking over to her. "I hear you met Rogers," she said, "not the brightest soldier they sent here, is he?" Alpha made a static noise, and a laugh was heard.
But it wasn't his own.
Alpha used other voices instead of his own, as he was unable to make sounds besides humming noises, and the breathy hissing sounds he emits. Enhancements have disabled his ability to speak, but he has picked up an ability to "steal" voices, with a particular enhancement he "acquired" from a "non-existent" military base. "We have a guest who'd like to see you, Alpha." Mion said with a smile. Alpha looked over her and saw Lucy, making his eyes light up green. Mion stepped to the side, knowing Alpha would run to her. And he did. Alpha took 3 quick steps to Lucy, then picked her up, hugging her. Lucy laughed and hugged back, "Long time no see, Alpha!" Lucy said with a smile. Alpha put her down and she wrote something on a clipboard. Alpha took out his knife, handing it to Lucy for her to hold. She accepted it with pleasure, as she was the only one ever allowed to touch it besides Alpha. "It's been sharpened lately, I see. No doubt with the weapon Rogers 'gave' you, huh?" Lucy said slyly, and Alpha nodded, tossing the knife to the side carelessly. Mion looked over to a few guards waiting outside. "Who are those people, Lucy..?" Lucy frowned and looked up at Alpha, saying slowly and quietly, "They're going to move me to a new facility. So you're going to have someone new, okay..?" Alpha's eyes took on a red tint now, and he shook his head. Lucy was the only one he trusted, staff-wise. "I don't want to go but they're making me, Alpha. I'm sorry." Lucy said, looking down. The guards walked in, weapons aimed at Lucy and Alpha, and Lucy turned around, wide-eyed and frowning. "You said I'd have ten minutes.." she said, a hint of fear in her voice. "Move." is all the guard said. She shook her head and one guard reached for her, only to be met by Alpha, who had pushed her aside. The guard looked up at Alpha, who's eyes were bright red now. "Step aside Alpha, or we fire." "(Omega's voice) No." "Move or we kill you and Luc-" Before he could finish, Alpha had kicked him from the middle of the cell, to into the hall, knocking him unconscious. Three guards ran in and pointed their weapons at Alpha, who was now becoming hostile.
Two rushed in, grabbing Lucy and dragging her out. Alpha moved towards her and a guard tried to stop him. He grabbed their weapon, twisted their arm, and used it to shoot the other two guards' legs, crippling them temporarily. He was not aiming to kill, but to wound. It was too little to late, as a squad of military reinforcements had rushed in to grab Alpha, and taken off with Lucy. Alpha threw one Corporal against the wall, taking their knife before they did, and he took his out as well. Mion shouted for Alpha to stop, but he would not listen. One guard tried to fire his weapon, but Alpha grabbed the barrel and pointed it upwards, then punched them upwards, lifting them into the air, and slamming them back down. He spun around and sliced another soldier across the face, stunning him temporarily, but was jumped on by soldiers with gas masks that released an enhancement stopping drug, and they got it into Alpha's system before he could take his eyes off of Mion, who he did not want to kill in the cross-fire. She kept shouting, but Alpha could only hear muffled sounds now. His world was fading before him. His world was turning black.
At least, for now. Later, he awoke to find himself strapped to a table, and two doctors were next to him, making remarks about his health. Alpha could feel something trying to push its way to the surface within his mind, and figured that it was one of his A.I. "Ah, you're awake. Alpha, you're going to be put under tighter security from now on. We will be taking your knife," one of the doctors said in a nonchalant fashion. If not for the straps, he knew the doctor would never have dared to touch Alpha's knife. "We're also going to be injecting you with a new Enhancement, as well as giving you a new A.I. You're going to have.." Alpha began to tune him out and analyze the room, using his Logic Enhancement. He felt that the straps on his left wrist were just loose enough to break free from, using his Adrenalin Enhancement. With that in mind, he began activating the adrenalin A.I. Focusing on his left arm, he felt a surge of strength flow through it. They had not taken the neccesary precautions against him. They'd live to regret that.
New-found strength in his arm, Alpha pulled his arm in just the right direction, pulling the straps free from his left wrist. Before the doctor could react, Alpha had seized him by the throat and pulled him down, face-to-mask. "Where is She?" Alpha asked, switching voices as usual. "What?" the frantic doctor said. Alpha growled from behind his mask, then shoved the doctor away, hurriedly undoing his other restraints. Two soldiers rushed in with weapons drawn, only to be met with a now free Alpha. Raising their weapons, Alpha immediately responded with hostility. "And so it begins," he heard an A.I. say.
